WATCH-IN! FOR AMERICA'S HEALTH

Throughout the month November 2009, thousands of Americans screened Money-Driven Medicine in a nationwide effort to encourage discussion and action during a critical period in U.S. healthcare reform.

The Watch-In! kicked off with a screening at the U.S. Capitol on October 26^th, where Members of Congress and staff, health reform advocates and others gathered to watch a special presentation of the documentary. In addition, California Newsreel hand-delivered DVDs of Money-Driven Medicine on behalf of Watch-In! outreach partners to all 535 members of the House and the Senate. The Watch-in! continued throughout the month with screenings nationwide, including 250 house party screenings hosted by Consumers Union.

California Newsreel made the award-winning documentary available for free streaming and low-cost DVD during this intensive month-long period of nationwide healthcare study and action. Watch-In! partners included Consumers Union, Campaign for America’s Future, Campus Progress, Doctors for America and Alternet among others.

Money-Driven Medicine, produced by Academy Award© winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, is the first film to deliver a thoughtful and comprehensive look at the underlying forces driving America’s high medical costs and poor quality of care. The documentary will continue to be an important tool for education and discussion in the years to come as the U.S. healthcare system begins the lengthy process of reform.
